A FLOATING WORLD
Ink & Digital Illustration for The Coraddi Magazine
A Floating World is an illustration that makes reference to the Ukiyo-e, a genre of Japanese woodblock prints and paintings produced between the 17th and the 20th centuries. Ukiyo-e, which means "pictures of the floating world" in Japanese, features something that is gorgeous, yet transitory at the same time. Indeed, the solid Japanese architecture is part of a floating island surrounded by clouds, which symbolizes the fleeting nature of things. A Floating World is inspired by this concept and shows one of the many fantastic universes that can exist only in our minds, and as such are ephemeral.
